What’s the biggest name in urban celebrity blogs? GYANT!
Anyone can write a blog, but it takes true talent to transform words into a viable business. The man with that talent is Lloyd Thurston “Gyant” Dinwiddie.
Gyant doesn’t just talk about the scene, he’s IN the scene, and his no-holds-barred method of offering firsthand scoops has catapulted him to the top of the urban celebrity blogosphere. Now, he’s moving on from SOHH.com to launch his own online forum: GyantUnplugged.com! Celebrity gossip, new music, exclusive videos, private events: You want it, and GyantUnplugged.com has it.
Inspired by his idol Wendy Williams, and a huge fan of Oprah Winfrey, Gyant relocated to Atlanta from his native New Jersey to pursue a career in radio. But he found his true calling online, exploding into the blogosphere and securing a position at popular urban blog site SOHH.com. Gyant stood out, and not just because of the 6 foot, 8 inch frame that earned him his nickname. His fearless writing style and ability to stay 10 steps ahead of competing bloggers made readers stand up and take notice. Owners at SOHH had no choice but to promote Gyant to Senior Correspondent, where his hard work and skills landed interviews with such notable celebrities as Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Bernice King, Cornell West, Ciara, Rick Ross, Jermaine Dupri, Soulja Boy, Mr. Collipark, Flo-Rida, and Bobby Valentino.
It’s not just his readers and bosses who know about Gyant’s abilities. Nominations for the annual Web Blog Awards and a win for BET.com’s Top Blogger of 2007, show how much the urban online community recognizes and respects Gyant’s unique style.
And his success isn’t limited to working online. Gyant serves as the Entertainment Correspondent for Dirt Law Radio and 96.5 The Beat FM in Michigan. He’s provided radio commentary for WVEE V-103, Atlanta’s #1 Hip Hop and R&B radio station, as well as HOT 107.9 FM and Dr. Mo’s “The Danger Show.” In 2008, he launched Gyant Media to provide an outlet for recording artists to expand their presence online. And he recently partnered with The Raw Report to create “Gyant Unplugged TV,” bringing his dynamic take on the urban celebrity scene to television.
Millions of online followers. Recognition from his peers. Connections with celebrities. Most men would be content. But Gyant won’t rest until he conquers all aspects of media, exploring opportunities in television, film, radio, public speaking and beyond. And when he does, you can be sure the impact will be GYANT!
